More than 200 visitors to the 2015 DuPage Environmental Summit on February 19th learned that while significant progress has been made on the health of our region’s rivers, there’s still work to do.
The Summit featured numerous exhibitors with innovative conservation ideas on ways to improve water quality and to engage individuals and businesses to help with these efforts.
The Conservation Foundation’s President/CEO Brook McDonald welcomed visitors to the day’s events that included presentations from the area’s leaders in conservation management.
Speakers included Larry Cox, DuPage River Salt Creek Workgroup; Sarah Hunn and Mary Mitros, DuPage County Stormwater Management; John Oldenburg, Forest Preserve District of DuPage County; and Jim Kleinwachter and Tara Neff from The Conservation Foundation.

Northern Illinois University’s Naperville Conference Center was a wonderful venue for the event, and it was very encouraging that so many people braved the sub-zero temperatures to be part of the day’s energy and idea-sharing all in the name of cleaner and healthier environmental future. In fact, we were together for the making of history. This particular February 19th was the coldest February 19th on record ever!
