The DuPage Environmental Summit was held Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 from 11:30am to 5pm in the Krasa Center at Benedictine University in Lisle. More than 250 participants attended this exciting mix of presentations by industry experts, professional exhibits, and networking opportunities.
What Was the Summit About?
This year's Summit focused on small scale renewable energy systems. The United States currently relies heavily on coal, oil, and natural gas for its energy. Fossil fuels are non-renewable, that is, they draw on finite resources that will eventually dwindle, becoming too expensive or too environmentally damaging to retrieve. In contrast, the many types of renewable energy resources-such as wind and solar energy-are constantly replenished and will never run out. Presentations included:
It Starts with Energy Efficiency First Solar and Photovoltaic Systems Small Wind Systems Geothermal Systems Challenges for Local Implementation Investment Payback and Financial Incentives
